| Show THE BEAR ORCHARD yesterday wa bad the pleasure of inspecting spec ting the bear river fruit orchards and we much surprised to find the orchards in euch fine condition we were informed by a former employed of the company that the trees were all dead or dying aad expected to find the orchards forsaken and in ruin we are pleased to announce that the statements made by the former employed are not only untrue but malicious eo much so that THE STANDARD believes it is the duty of abe dear river people to have him arrested and put behind he bars not only ia the bear river orchard company injured by these falee statements but the whole of northern utah ia damaged by the false assertions as abe conditions existing the bear river exist throughout northern utah the bear river country is a natural tributary to ogden and the injury to the valley on abe north is an injury to ogden and her people I 1 the people of ogden wish to prosper they must build up tho country around them by retarding our neighbors we pull ourselves back we have purchased a little te nacre orchard from the bar river company on the monthly payment plan and intended to forfeit our contract as we actually believed from the rumors and statements made that we were paying for a dead horse oar personal inspection of acres of orchards has satisfied us that there ia not a 10 acre 3 year old orchard in uenh that compares favorably with any 10 acres in the acres we inspected and as for oar own 10 acres we shall continue our payments and take a deed for the land and feel satisfied we have made a good investment we stood in abe center of the acres andas far as our eyes could see there was not a dead tree visible it is only fair to eay that we did see a few trees that did not look healthy but not one in a hundred exhibited an unhealthy appearance the writer has bad some experience in planting treba having planted trees each year for four successive years and considers 75 to 80 percent a healthy growth but abe bear river people present an orchard with 90 per cent of live healthy growing fruit bearing trees for the benefit of those who may read this article wa will say we have no interest in these orchards other than the ten acres we have purchased under contract and our only object in speaking of this matter is that preat injury has been done to the orchard company and northern utah in beneral by the and false statements made the bear river orchard we repeat that those who maliciously the land of northern utah should be arrested and put where they wi 1 l learn to be truthful truth lul and honest |
