Show BUBONIC PLAGUE IN VIENNA introduced by a surgeon inoculating himself three deaths have occurred but danger of the disease spreading is not feared the consul makes a report washington nov 2 the marine hospital has received a dispatch from the united states consul at vienna stating that three deaths have occurred there from the bubonic plague and that there are now only six cases in the city and these are all hospital patients the consul adds that the infection oc emigrants Is improbable dr wyman surgeon general of the marine hospital says that no unusual delays to the landing at new york of immigrants from austro hungary are contemplated the consuls at the ports of depar ture will examine each emigrant before he is allowed to go aboard ship and it he comes from the infected district his baggage will be dis infected and every other precaution taken to prevent the spread of the disease in no case will an emigrant be allowed to proceed it there Is any reason to believe that he has been in contact with the infection dr wyman Is of tha opinion that there is little or no danger of the plague being brought to this country through emigrants or otherwise |
