| Show HOW should PEOPLE VOTE edward H anderson says they should vote yes EDITOR on tuesday an tabes place in this city it is the voting of yea or no on the proposition of keeping the public schools open for the remainder of the the people ot ogden should look at thia matter in the right way what are we aided to do ogden people have been assessed and bare now paid about tor county school taxes this year by a decision of court thia levy is declared illegal and it is to bo refunded to the taxpayers if this decision had not been made ogden citizens would have lost say paid to schools in the county outside of ogden cily this amount will will now be saved in any event and the school board practically ask us to let them retain the which they were entitled to receive and which the people have already paid we lose nothing by voting yes we do not go into debt further the interest to be paid by the board on the temporary loan returns to each individual taxpayer from the fact that his taxes are refunded to him and he has the use of bis money from which he ought to get as much interest as is paid on a like amount by the board by voting no we can only ba a mere trifle better financially but on the contrary our children will lose untold thousands tuesday is a day on which the poor especially should chow by voting yea on the proposition before us that they regard the advantages of their own children higher than the pittance of money that will be returned to them in voting no the rich will be too proud of the progress of our city and too jealous of the welfare of our school system to cripple and perhaps destroy both by voting no they will vote yes they will listen to the earnest pleadings of the thousands of children whose future bangs upon their decision in short by voting yea the tax payers will have returned to them and canse the schools to continue with all the accompanying benefits by voting no they will get returned to them destroy a years time of over school children cripple the efficiency of our school system and re ceide no advantage worth speaking of in return let ua vote light let is vote to boari or turn over to the school board the already paid in taxes and which by a decision of the court will other ice ba refunded to us let us vote yes the fund belongs to the Go bools one more word you object because I 1 am interested I 1 have children going to school you say with thousands of others I 1 reply that we paid tabea years before we sent children to school and 1 shall perhaps continue to do so years after their school terms are ended by voting yes we only demand our rights while we can make ose of them respectfully II 11 ogden utah march |
