celebration of the twenty eighth anniversary of the order friday evening last the endi and lence ence wee was called to order by A J weber who delivered a stirring address I 1 on Pythian tem and eloquently portrayed the history of the order ord hie hi spee speech it was brief and pointed zd and w was I 1 one us of ithe the gems of the evening at the doe close of his address ad drees in a few chosen words be he introduced grand chancellor win wm hush husbands ands of salt lake city as the presiding officer of the evening the grand chancellor delivered an interesting and instructive address that received the closest ic closed attention of all present A piano eolo solo by miss beasore and music on the accordion accor deon by fred massa followed massa is an artist on that in instrument and received a hearty encore I 1 to which be he responded to the delight of all E A mcdaniel who ie is the originator of the movement to build a pythian home in utah and who has for years been one of the prominent knights of the west spoke on the subject of friendship one of the three tenets of the order aderi he did the subject justice 3 mrs r di Dalrym bong which was next on the pro gramme waa was one of the most enjoyable features of the entertainment ament charity was the subject assigned to C ab B J P meakin that peerless peer leee elocutionist aist and elc eloquent quent orator poke spoke about the heroes of our order and closed with an appropriate and well rendered recitation T D johnsons speech was full of thought its word pictures were extremely fine and truly eloquent his subject waa was benevolence and bis his address was in every way appropriate mrs nelson then delighted the audience with one ot of her finest selections G B roberta roberts also eung sang 1 I fear no forin for in a manner that pleased all present mrs williams of the pythian sisters spoke on parity and made one of the finest addresses of the vie evening I 1 the duet by mrs spencer and miss erickson was a selection that pleased all and was well rendered by the ladies I 1 sir knight captain 11 0 of lincoln Dill dilliston ision no 2 then made a few brief remarks on the uniform rank and its great help to the order and the pleasure be he bad had in in saying that ac at laet last the members seemed to ba bi b i taking more interest and that they would make a division wit th at ogden could well leel feel proud of if they continued the present interest the principles of the endowment rank were then explained in an able manner iby by the secretary of this city A after which miss bliss keller played old black joe joel in a manner that showed her proficiency on the piano and was well received by the audience the uniform rank having been called c out t during the alter latter part of the pro gramme cow now returned bringing the hon frederick warde wards a member of the order and kents band mr air warde was introduced by the sir knight captain and heartily thanked the knights for the pleasure of meeting with them on the twenty eighth anniversary of Pythia niem nhim thi the bacquet then boing ug prepared the visitors headed by wm husbands grand chancellor T C Armal armstrong rong P G U 0 and one ne of ill the 0 old war horses of in utah gathered around the banquet table with other visiting friends and knights hta over two hundred were feasted during durin Z the evening and the banquet committee and those who assisted deserve the hearty thanks of all on the excellent way they bandied the large gathering and the appetizing viands they set before them the entertainment was a grand success in every way and the visiting knights as well as all present appreciated the efforts of all the committees in making the entertainment so interesting and entertaining the silt salt lake y is set apart by the uniform rank as its church day and all sir knights are expected to attend divine services on that day it at no other time of the year if it the streets are not too muddy the division will do a little fancy marching and show their proficiency in soma of the movements of the tile uniform rank tactics A cordial invitation is extended to all knights in the city and their
