whole of the members of the council were present and mayor peery mccu pied the chair the object of the meeting was the consideration of some drafts of new ordinances which had been drawn up to meet certain questions alie first matter to receive the attention of the members was an ordinance in relation to sidewalks and by which section jbf chapter XV of the revised ordinances is repealed the new measure provides that in the event of a properly holder or owner or mortgagor or holder of alien failing to construct sidewalks and to keep them in repair they shall be notified in some they must coins ply with the requirements of tho ordinances din ances should they fail to ido so alie city may pay the cost of fixing said sidewalk and an assessment shall be made on the property by said sidewalk which together with all costs of proceedings shall be a prior and superior lien upon the property and the holder owner mortgagor or holder of a lien on said property shall be liable for such expenses the ordinance to take effect immediately after its passage after the third reading this ordinance on motion of councilor boyle ws read by its title and accepted as one of the laws of ogden
