Show PROMISE last sabbath we enjoyed the pleasure of attending a sunday school exhibition in the third ward meetinghouse in this city the auditorium was completely filled with members of the school and spectators an gram wag executed in admirable style which reflected credit upon the worthy superintendent the teachers and the scholars intricate clasa exercises were rendered by numbers of bright eyed intelligent little children with a perfection and fluency which was most satisfactory the young ladies of the ward especially ally distinguished by their grace and merit in song and recitation the school is evidently flourishing and the young people exhibit a devotion to scripture study which is full of brightest promise for the future of mor bondom meyeral young men who delivered short extemporaneous addresses in elucidation of some passage of the dicine word displayed superior ability which only needs cultivation and experience to make them famous and potent for good we were deeply impressed with the lively interest the children and young people manifested in their sunday school work there was no inattention no drowsiness and no disorder al though many of those present were very young and might have been pardoned if they had grown restless before thelong the long program was finished but while the third ward sabath school has just reason to feel proud of its work it should not rest entirely satisfied with present attainment there is always plenty of room for improvement and ambition to excel in a good work should only be stimulated by present laudable lau dible attainments the destiny of utah is in the hands of its sunday school children and they should be inspired to the most enthusiastic exertion by reason of thia great consideration alone y |
