Show attend to your ditches in the last session of the city council it was reported that numerous complaints are made about the water from irrigating ditches overflowing the streets to the great inconvenience of pedestrians and the destruction of iho public thoroughfares it is a matter of much regret also that some of our citizens should be so neglectful of the public weal and comfort asto allow waste water to run off their inh on to the sidewalks it is not a agreeable adventure for a person to have to wade through two or three inches of water in order to get to ones destination at night as is the experience of many persons when without any vast amount of labor a waste ditch might be constructed and the nui sauce obviated for the benefit of these belins and for the information of the irrigating canal companies wo call attention to the following pro in the city ordinances in regard to these matters section 4 of chapter of the revised ordinances din ances is as follows all persona having ditches running iu front of their lots between the d sidewalk or having ditches in their lots are hereby required to 50 mako and maintain said ditches that tho water shall not flow to the injury of said streets or sidewalks or to tho waste of said water during any period of its allotment for irritation section 8 of the same chapter re quires that all persons so water as to cause through neglect damage to annlot any lot street sidewalk ditch bridge or other property shall be liable to a fine in any sum not exceeding fifty dollars for ancl of fonse and to pay all damages accor ins thereby it ta the intention of the city council to rigidly enforce these ordinances din ances and it is to be that this question will not have to be agitated any further |
