Show Poorly Addressed Missiles Prove Detrimental to Efficiency of Local v Institution. Co-operation is Needed,' ' ' Did you ever expect a letter from ."a a dear one, and when it failed to ar- ' - rive, run to the post office, and pour ' your vent out to the Post Master v.. and his crew of able assistants? . ! . Did you ever Stop to realize that ' perhaps the postal workers-ar ab- ' solutely ignorant of the fact that you are looking for said letter, and that it MIGHT be the fault of the sender ; "; . " ' Did you ever receive a letter (in , due time) with an address reading -something like this: ; Bingham, Utah? ' i D!d you ever stop to figure out that the mail carriers of this camp . are not mind readers? , Did you ever wonder why the mail carriers of this section remain as mail carriers instead of accepting positions po-sitions on th' stage at memory art- ists? ' .; , .'. -;. ' . ' . . These are a rew of the many ques-j ' ' tions that confront the. Post Masters , and . hit assistants at the Bingham Canyon post office. . . ' Z , . '," For Instance: a letter. Is received for Will Anderson, Bingham, Utah. ' , " Where does Bill live, in Highland Boy, Copperfield, docs he room tip ' town,, or perchance he may live 'in -Markham, or Freeman, or Hageland, " ' or even lower Main? Who is tup- v pori to know where he lives? Surely th4"TJstal workers are not expected , " f" to know where every one in camp, lives, particularly in a camp where the floating population is' as great as is Bingham Canyon's. Bill can't be located, his mail is put in general i delivery and in a few days, Bill comeV roaring into the sanctum sanctorum of the. Post Master, and tells him .''. what roftea service lie is getting, and v..t-w I then a search is made for a letter that should have been sent back t&,,'-the t&,,'-the sender for proper address. , ' Although of but one street, Bingham Bing-ham Canyon has many houses, when Highland Boy and Copperfield are included, and yet how many houses are numbered? Very few in com- . parison with other towns. 4 The post office in Bingham Canyon Can-yon is not a Jim Crow affair, as the postal receipts will show, and for the most part, the people of the camp rely upon carrier service for the acquisition acquisi-tion of their correspondence. ' ' Highland Boy and Copperfield have no numbers on the houses, but their mail boxes are numbered, and a number num-ber on the incoming envelope would aid materially in efficient delivery of letters and parcels. . The people of the camp can help, ' and should help. Let those who live in Copperfield and Highland Boy put their mail box numbers on the return address, and let the people of Lower Bingham have their houses numbered, and then tell their correspondents what the number is, and lighten the burden bur-den of the mail carriers, who usually have enough grief without any added misery. People expect 100 per cent efficient effi-cient service from the post office, and the least they can do is to give 100 per cent co-operation in return for this service, which is given, in sunshine, rain and snow, and by the way, did you ever see a mail carrier out of humor even with the added burden of trying to figure out what part of the camp Bill Anderson resides re-sides in? |
