Show Willard Night at the Or-pheum Or-pheum Tonight, ARMSTRONG SUES FOR Blfl DAMAGES In the district court this morning James Armstrong commenced an action ac-tion against II. H Cordon, the Southern South-ern Pacific and Oregon Short Line for damages in the sum of $5,000 for false imprisonment. The complaint alleges that on September Sep-tember 0 II. H. Cordon, special officer of-ficer for the railway companies uumed in the complaint, arrested Mm and placed him in Jail; that he remained Incarcerated four days without being charged with an offense and when he! applied to the district court for a writ of habeas corpus on the 12th of September, Sep-tember, that before tho motion for the writ was acted upon a complaint was filed against the plaintiff charging charg-ing him with grand larceny and ho was placed under a bond of $t"U for his appearance In court, he furnishing the bond in order to gain his liberty. Jt Is further stated that on Septem-ler Septem-ler 27 the complaint agaJnst Armstrong Arm-strong was cliumissed by the county attorney, and no further action taken. The plaintiff states that by virtue of his imprisonment, and having been placed under bonds, he was deprived of the opportunity of working at his trade, that of railway brakeman, his credit was Impaired, he w.ts mortilled In his feelings and Insulted, and was damaged -in the sum of $3,t"00. |
