The most vinegar-minded pc.j;i-mlBt pc.j;i-mlBt could not keep his face straight during "Mag Haggcrty'e Reception." a three character comedy by the Thomas J. Ryan-Rlciifield Co. Thin la the head-liner of the program. Mr. Ryan depicts an Irish hod-carrier which some freak wave of fortune has tossed upon the golden shores of Fifth avenue. His daughter has eliminated elim-inated the brogue and ha an hysterical hysteri-cal hankering for "Society." spelled with a capital ess. The act opens with Haggerty returning from bis first automobile ride. In his Irish role, Ryan is a scream. Me does not have to wear a green vest and swing a sblllelah to let the audience know that he is Impersonating a Celt rather rath-er than a Teuton. He Is spontaneously Irish And this is what worries his daughter Mag and her society bug. She endeavors en-deavors to veneer over his shanty Irish mannerisms with enough papier mache culture so that he can "get by" nt a dress suit reception or an afternoon whist party. There is comedy both in the action and words of the act.- Ryan is clever, clev-er, really clever, and so I May in a milder sort of way. Phlneas Fanning, the butler, also adds something to the comedy of the act. Because of the failure of Mr. and Mrs. Jack McGreevy to make train Connections Connec-tions at Denver, the Ryan company prepented a sequel act entitled "Mag Haggerty's Daughter." which was equally as good as their regular number. num-ber. The McGrcevys will be here tonight in an act called the Village Fiddler. The program opens with a musical number by the Mullinl trio. Margin-el Margin-el Mullinl Is a saxophone soloist and has played with Cllmoro's and Literati's Litera-ti's bands. His two daughters ably assist bim In vaudeville work and the act which he presents Is a good one. Miss Cuzanne Rocamora is second on the bill and despite her name, sings well. She 13 a very energetic vocal soloist who ."Irts with the high notes In n soul thrilling manner. Tho audience enjoyed her efforts. Mr. Bernard Granville and Mr. William Wil-liam Rogers, two odd fellows, are riot-lously riot-lously funny. No two-cared man, woman or child can resist their comedy. com-edy. They deserve applause and they get It. Samaroff and Ronia. tho Russian peasants, present a unique act In pantomime pan-tomime which h pleasing. Everybody i seemed to enjoy it. The act is well dressed and is different from anything any-thing seen at the Orpheum this season. AT THE ORPHEUM.
