Show Ironsides slightly BENT IN I I Saturday afternoon one Alexander Ironsides appeared before the uecre-tary uecre-tary of the J. P. O'Neill Construction company, Quaylc Cannon, and asked to be paid off. Ironsides had been working fr the company, laying cement. ce-ment. Without knowing exactly how much work be had done. Mr. Cannon handed him a check for $50, staling that he would pay the balance, if there should be any, as soon as the work could be measured and turned Jn. Ironsides evidently thought he hod something more coming and inasmuch as the Glorious Fourth was fast approaching, ap-proaching, he demanded that the secretary sec-retary draw a check for another $50. To this Mr. Cannon demurred, but. to enforce the demand. Ironsides drew a wicked looking revolver and Insisted that an additional check for 50 be given instanter. At this point Mr. Cannon was persuaded that wisdom was the better part of valor, so he wrote the other check and graciously handed it to the cement worker. This morn in?, in the police court. Ironsides was arraigned on the charge of assault with u deadly weapon. He pleaded guilty and the court sentenced sentenc-ed him to pay a fine of $50 or serve fifty days in the city jail. Ironsides moved to the desk sergeant's quarters and turned over one of the O'Neill company's checks in payment of the j fine. Ho missed the Fourth of July I jollification and furthermore paid out 50. Ironsides says he must have been drinking when ho drew the gun on Cannon. |
