Show SHOULD il EAT DISEASED DUCKS William Mathers, an officer of the Lakeside Duck club, and a student of bird life, yesterday declared that unless hunters, particularly boys, refrain re-frain from killing and eatlig the sick ducks Infecting the shores of tho lako and the rivers emptying Into In-to it, there is liable to be a spread of the contagion to humanity. Mr. Mathers fears the opening of the duck shooting season, believing that unless a proper warning is gU-en gU-en huntsmen there will be many who will kill and eat the ducks. The ducks feeding on the grounds of the Lakeside club, which have uutil a week ago been free from se-rioiio se-rioiio infection, are fast becoming Infected In-fected with the sickness, and It 'a feared that unless there is a heavy rain in the uear future the disease will spread iu that section to even the pioportlons of tho cBar river and Jordan flat sections. It is not within the power of the state game warden to prohibit tho .iing of the docks when the season opens Saturday, and the only precaution precau-tion that can be taken Is the cautioning cau-tioning of all who would hunt the ducks. Mr. Mai hers declares that his ilub will postone the hunting season until un-til such time as may be considered more favorable. Should a heavy rnjn" occur ,that would fill up the streams that are now briny from the hacked-up hacked-up lake, the ban will be removed, and the chances lor good sport would then be good. |
