Show SUPREME COURT ASKED TO REVIEW TRIAL x Washington. Nov 28. Tho supreme court of the United States was asked today to review the trial of Frederick A. Hyde and J. II. Schneider on charges f conspiracy with John A. Benson and Henry p. Dimond to defraud de-fraud the government out of lands iu California and Oregon. The tiial was held in the District of Columbia on the theorv that an overt act on the conspiracy had been committed within the district. Hyde and Schneider were convicted and each sentenced to imprisonment and to pav a line, while Benson aud Di-uind Di-uind were acquitted. "If these rulings are correct," attorneys at-torneys for Hyde and Schneider protest pro-test in their petition to tbe supreme court, "any jerson who writes a letter let-ter to any official in Washington or employs any attorney in connection witli a claim" against the United States becomes liable to prosecution here for conspiracy." |
