Show Evidently He Has Been in a Deep Brown Study Since Monday Chicago, Oct. 21. Orval Overall, who had been 0110 of tho Chicago National's Na-tional's star pitchers lor severnl seasons, sea-sons, announced last night that he had pitched hl3 last big league game. "I don't mean that I won't work again In this series," said Overall. "I will if Chance asks mo to, but I won't bo a pitcher on the team or on any other team next year, and I am In earnest when I say so. I am not going to quit because of anything that, lias happened In this series or ut any time this season. I am Just tired of the Job and I don't want any more of It. "The life of a big league pitcher Is unsatisfactory at best. IT you aro good you get along all right" and no one has any complaint to make, but If you axe bad, even for allltle while, or if your arm goes back on you. you are up against it and you can't help yourself. "I like baseball and would be glad to play any other position. If some one will try me as an outfielder, a catcher or a first baseman, I may decide de-cide to stick to the game a while longer. I think I could make good in one of these places aud I would like the opiortunlty of trying. But I am tired of pitching and will be all through with that part of It aa soon as this series Is at an end." |
