Show WILD STORY OF MURDER IN OSPEN Chief of Police Thomas Browning, this morning received a letter from Under Sheriff F. Tullock, of Lewis-tan, Lewis-tan, Montana, making Inquiry regarding regard-ing tho alleged killing of a man by the name of John S. HotIs, tho crime being eupposvtd to have been co to runted run-ted In Ogden about May 1. The lot-tor, lot-tor, which Is self-explanatory, reads. In part, as follows: "I would like to get a little Information Informa-tion regarding a man by the name of John S. Hovls who was recently reported re-ported murdered In Ogden. Utah. His wife claims to have received three telegrams from the city authorities of Ogden to the effect that he wm murdered with an ax and that he was so badly mutilated that he could not bo recognized. "Ho was reported to have b-icn killed four or five daye ago. The telegrams tele-grams were sent to Deer Lodge, Montana, Mon-tana, but she 1b now In Lewlaton, Montana. You would confer a favor by letting rae know If there Is any truth in the report." The letter wai datd May 3rd No such occurrence 1 known to tho officers here and they are of tho opinion opin-ion that the telegrams .were for the purpose of drawing money from the lady. ThA Montana officer states that It Is his oplnton that Hovls has sent the telegrams to mislead his wife and that he la likely trying to leavo the country. |
