Smyth, department depart-ment commander of the Giand Army of the Republic, respecting the observance ob-servance of Memorial day. May CO Stress Is laid upon the duty which tho comrades owe to tho memory of their dead; school children are urged urg-ed to participate in exorcises, on the preceding Friday, of an appropriate-character. appropriate-character. The clergy is asked to conduct services and to deliver addresses ad-dresses on the significance of the day on the preceding Sunday, May 29. It Is the nation's Sabbath, and lis proper observance Is one of tho nation's strongest safeguards. No more beautiful or Impressive scene can bo witnessed than that of a redeemed re-deemed nation ceasing from its dally toil and gathering around the graves of thoxe who died that wo might live, bearing offerings of flowers, and giving giv-ing suitable expressions of the gratitude grati-tude which a great people feel towards to-wards those w-ho gave their lives a l ake City, Utah, department chaplain and department patriotic Instructor, of all service held lu honor of tho day, including services held in public pub-lic r.chools, and on Sunday preceding Memorial day L.
