Show CUT-OFF PUN OF R GRANDE The Gould system has In view a plan for a cut-off that will play a most Important part in transcontinental transconti-nental freights It is the connection between the main line from Rlvertnn to the BIngham-Garfle'.d branch ot Welby, both points In Salt Lake county. Then will follow the connection connec-tion between the Oarfield line to the Western Pacific, thus making n through line from all point south and east of Rlverton to all points west of Garfield. In the handling of coal tonnage alone this will prov a great saving factor. It will reduce the distance and at the same time do away with the possibility of congestion conges-tion In the Salt Lake yards. All freights from the east and south destined des-tined to Nevada and California can be easily handled over this line to. great adrantago. The line from Bingham to Garfield was ostensibly built for the copper ores of the camp moving to tho Garfield Gar-field plants, but now that the new Bingham & Garfield will handle all the ores from the enmp the Rio Grande's line to Garfield can be very well utilized for the purposes of this most Important cutoff. |
