News: I The Republican Prohibition league is the name of a new organization that is soon to become an effective forco In the politics of Utah. The new league's first work is al-roady al-roady cut out for it It Is to start right here in Salt Lake with an organized or-ganized demand that a new and substantial sub-stantial temperance reform measure be considered by this legislature, 'lo see that this work is properly done. The league's executive committee has been selected, and this executive committee com-mittee will at once take hold of this tack. j In its membership are Wesley K. Walton, formerly Republican state chairman; now state chairman of the Republican Prohibition lfa;ue Serving Serv-ing with him In the work arranged for the next few weeks are Albert Reiser, Nephi L. Morris of Salt Lake; Willis Johnson of Sevier; Thomas Haycock of Garfield, and James A. Kelley ot Millard. The work of the executive committee commit-tee will not stop with the present legislature. leg-islature. It will extend over the entire state of Utah, and will Include organizations organi-zations In every slngo county. The object is to put the fight for pro- hibltlon on a basis where it cannot fail to make an effective campaign for what is desired in the form of legislation, legis-lation, so long as a saloon may remain open in the state. |
