Show DUNNE CLAIMS TO HAVE OUTDONE WRIGHT BROS. London, May 5. The Times this morniug prints a statement denying the government's alleged apathy toward to-ward aviation. It says that Captain 1 J. W. Dunne of the royal engineers, after several years experience, made an aeroplane that was superior to the Wright machine and in secret experiments experi-ments in Scolland two years ago, succeeded suc-ceeded in making a flight of 12 miles in a circular course in which he I: roved beyond a doubt, according to the statement, that in efficiency and ; ease of control tho Wrights had been 1 outdone. That was the reason, says The Times, that the war office has made j no attempt to engage the services of . the Wrighta or secure their machine. A new machine lias recently been built under Dunne's supervision at Fern-borough, Fern-borough, and everything was prepared prepar-ed for flights on a large scale when, a 1 few days ago, Dunne suddenly severed his connection with the balloon factory. fac-tory.
