Show WRECK OF PASSENGER TRAIN. The wreck of passenger train No. 3, 56 mile east of Ogden. on the Union Pacific, at an early hour this morning, Is the most disastrous accident on that road occurring since the Installation Installa-tion of the block signal service. The wreck was caused by a landslide land-slide brought down from the steep mounUln' side by the slorma of the last few days. Had the slide been heavy enough to break the block signal sig-nal connections between the rails, the danger light at Cantle Rock would have warned the engineer and the lives of two faithful Union Pacific employes and a vast amount of property would have been Bated. The railroad company displayed commendable alertness and concern over the fate of those on the-wrecked train by sending out from Ogden without with-out delay, and before details had been received, a special train carrying doctors doc-tors and nurses. The one danger which the block signals sig-nals cannot record Is a slide, except when the track is swept away, and it Is for some genius to supply this deficiency. de-ficiency. i . |
