Show ' - REDUCTION IN RATES. New rates have been made by the Southern Pacific on all commodities moving under class rates from Ogden :ind Salt Lake, covering a reduction averaging 25 per cent. When the new rates go into effect on November 1, Ogden jobbers will be able to ship to Lovelock, Nevada, on a schedule not much higher than is now effective to Elko. The proBent first class rate to Elko is $1.48. The reduced rate to Lovelock, which is in western Nevada, will be $1.58Vs- The rate to Winncmucca, Nevada, will be lower than the present rate to This should stimulate the local dealers to cover much of Nevada. Salt Is to have a rate of $3.80 a ton irom Cosmos, which la on the north edge of the lake on the old Central Pacific line, to San Francisco. This is a lower rate than was given baled hay years ago. The Union Pacific also is bidding for Utah business and is putting into effect an emergency rate on Utah cement ce-ment to Portland.
