Show missionary MESSAGES elder J return homo home from I 1 we had i a pleasant and friendly fr cX call this morning from elder lovi J taylor ot harrisville who has I 1 just returned f from rom a mission to the southern states whither he went on the of october 1882 during the two years of ofha his absence ho be has labored in southwestern virginia in russell and buchanan counties the first six months of his mission was spent L ain in company with elder james W W bean of provo the following half year he labored with E elder ider josepfh smith of and during the past I 1 year his missionary hours were spent with elder james G wood of bountiful the lord bleaR blessed sed him ton to a remarkable decree degree in all his labors and he be was the means of bringing many to an understanding of the me 11 gospel eight of whom bo be baptized and he considers that the prospects are 0 prom promising ising for many more to join the church through the guidance gu 1 i of god they were led to a field held where the elders previously had bad made mad madelny eony only little progress hero here they found a number of highly respectable people who had bad dis discarded c added the sectarian dogmas and who therefore were to a certain extent prepared to receive the pure gospel doctrines as advocated by the servants ints of the lord they foaud bow tion from the ministers who invariably oppose the work of god but they were blessed in receiving the most hospitable treatment that any person could enjoy from the residents in that part of the country and hey were never compelled to stay out one night nor go LIO without food but abw always ays found plenty nty to cat and shelter under the roof of southern frn hospitality for which the lord is is thanked who opened up their way elder taylor walked mites war es and rode miles while in his field of clabor he ile held mcce tings in which which lie always found the spirit of god to aid him in delivering hn hii message of salvation he ile returned on saturday over the D A R G ry to his mountain home to which we heartily welcome him and with his many friends extend to him the tile hand of friendship |
