| Show CITY COUNCIL MINUTES the city council met in the city hall ogden may 1882 INay mayor orL L J herrick in the cl chair ienir minutes of former meeting were read and approved A petition wag was received and read signed by jolin john broom chas wood manace and 98 others respectfully representing that the U railroad track extending up fifth street to franklin st was a great detriment to business and a nuisance for business men and property owners in ita its vicinity said tract near franklin street was not more than ten feet from the front of business houses and residences and endangered dang ered the lives odthe of the public therefore the petitioners petition ers prayed and demanded that the council by ordinance or other proper order declare said track and the operation thereof by any railroad corporation between Wall and fr franklin anklin streets to be a nuisance and forthwith abate abato the same the recorder was instructed to communicate with supt bupt sharp and call his attention to 10 the aci petition alit and to a prior arlage arrangement met of f the he company to remove said tr track as soon aa as practicable elizabeth shupe represented that the city hauled away from her land cast of ogden bridge about 2000 loads of gravel ravel worth cents per load load and opened a channel across said land into which ogden river is liable to flow the matter could be settled for she sho asked the council to consider her claim and inform her what the city will do for an amicable settlement of the same referred to the committee on claims petition of F P D richards and five others asking the council to have a firo fire hydrant placed midway between F fourth and fifth streets on franklin street as CA a protection against t fire was referred to the committee on fire department with instructions to mature and resort report port for action a uniform system of fire ro protection by hydrants alon along the mains mains of the water witter company and to confer with said company as to rates per month for the same C woodmansee wood mansee was granted permission to use for a short time under the usual restrictions a portion of the street and sidewalk opposite his premises on the west side of main street between fourth and fifth streets on which to deposit building materials communication from W B doddridge bupt supt W D U P rail way co stating the reasons for which the said company object to a wagon road running parallel to and upon the right of way of the Company from eighth street south to the territorial road roadways was lead and referred to the committee on streets with instructions to confer conter with the cit city L attorney as to the legal rights of the public to said wagon roa road OP or committees the action ef of the land owners in in appropriating for public use theland needed for the third street north of ogden n brid bridge running west from the state iford road to brooms bench the committee on streets asked and were granted t two ITO weeks in which to male make a final report ort on the matter of opening said street the committee on public works reported that satisfactory progress was being made on the drain ext extension en on main blain south of fifth street and recommended that be appropriated on account to the contractors re report p ort acce accepted ted and recommendation da tio n adophes adopted the committee on water supply had bad located in suitable places in the business center two watering troughs for public use and would shortly place in in p position a drinking fountain near the postoffice post office on fourth street the committee on public grounds recommended that a lot each on block 48 plat a ogden city survey bo be sold to wm win R martin andrew II 11 31 martin artin and mrs mary griffin adopted the committee on streets were granted further time on the matter of opening the street running from the foot of eighth street south the Mar marshal elial was instructed to en enforce force emphatically the ordinance relating to fire limits and the prevention of fires and to prosecute all of offenders renders against said ordinance BILLS ALLOWED medicine for paupers haupers 13 33 35 blankets for city jail clothing for prisoners 18 1880 80 acknowledging deeds 50 P haupers paupers alpers 10 00 R repaired hoso hose 00 F feeding prisoners 53 00 P police olice services oo 00 marshals expenses 25 streets 75 sewer 50 medical attendance on paupers haupers 21 00 the council adjourned to meet at the gidy hall juno june 2nd and 1882 at two p in |
