| Show Wy J v s POISON young aiau of ogden knocks at the gate of eternity early this morning some excitement was caused in this city from a report that par of mr joe parry had taken poison and th it no hopes were entertained his recovery the circumstances of the case are as follows last evening young parry in company with harris son ef jos harris attended tho performance at union opera house at tie conclusion of the dieco parry invited harris to accompany him lome to eleen harris accepted and about 12 the two parties reached mr parrys residence on main st and proceeded to hiruma room while the latter went out to the pump to procure a drink of water his custom before retiring harris went to bed parry returned to the room and proceeded to drink something from a email vial harris asked him waa drinking and the reply not being satisfactory the former became alarmed and springing from the bed discovered that hi companion had taken a large quantity of laudanum harris gave the alarm and the father with other members of the family were aroused drs caranhan Cara ahan and were sent for and were soon on the spot aa no stomach pump could be procured strong emetics were administered ered both medical gentlemen most assiduous in their attentions during the rest of the morning and although it seemed forsey eral hours that the case might terminate fatal ock this p m by one 01 i medical gentlemen in attendance that strong hopes were entertained of tho young mans recovery up to this time we have not learned that hyrum had given any reason for his iash act and it will perhaps be a day or two before he is sufficiently recovered from the affects of the narcotic to give any lucid explanation of the cause that led him to take the poisonous drug when last seen by our reporter the unfortunate young man was resting well his pulse being more regular than at any time since taking the opiate |
