Show National Guards May Belong to R. 0. T. C. Members of tho Utah National Guard aro eligible to membership in the rescrvo officers' training camp, according to advices received by Lieut. Col. Frod .Torgonsen, adjutant general. gener-al. The question has been discussed for somo time as to whether a man could belong to the reserve officers' training camp and tho National Guard at tho same time. Tho secretary of war has ruled as follows: 'Heretofore, students who were members of tho nntinn.nl mmvfl nmilil not enroll , for training In the reserve S officers' training camp. Under this provision they may enroll and get credit for the required number of drills of a member of tho the national guard, even though absent from the national guard station, they will not get pay for tho drill unless actually present- "Members of tho national guard may be excused from duty with tholr unit during the period they aro required re-quired to attend the summer camp of tho reserve officers' training camp prescribed as compulsory for members of tho senior division. They may, however, bo rcqulr6d to attend both tho reserve officers' training camp and national guard camps the same year at tho option of tho governor of tho state If tho times tho camps arc held do not conflict and may draw pay for both." |
