An amusing story la told of a young Scotch lad who, In a very quiet, determined de-termined way, made his exit from a house In which ho bad been but a little lit-tle while lnstnllcd as a domestic help. Ho had been told that he would be dismissed If he broke any of tlie china under bla charge. On tho morning of a great dinner party he waa Intrusted rather rashly Willi a great load of plates, which he was to carry upstairs from tho kitchen tu tho dining room, and which woro plied up on hla two hands. In going upstalra hla foot atlpped and the plates were broken to atoms. Ho ut oncn went lo the drawing room, put his head III at the door and shouted: "Tho plates are a' smashed and I'm awa'l" |
