Show i Utah Automobile Association r Announces Contest; Trip Will Be Reward. A contest -open to every resident of Utah for -the renaming of Bryco canyon can-yon has been Inaugurated by the Utah Automobile association. As a reward re-ward for tho name tho automobile association is offering a froe trlp( to Bryce canyon and Zion National park to the person who wins. Two reasons aro given for this desired de-sired change of. title: First, Bryce canyon Is not a canyon in any sense of the word. It is a huge sink; a horseshoe shaped amphitheater, two miles across tho bulge and four miles in length. Second, it is designated on federal maps as tho Temple of the Gods: but that title, while fitting, after a fashion, conflicts with the nationally national-ly famous Garden of tho Gods. in Colorado Col-orado and confuses the visiting tourist as to the location of Utah's rarest beauty spot. World-famous travelers who have visited Bryce, declare it to be the greatest single scenic attraction in the world. And thesq havc expressed tho opinion "that this spot should bo given gome title distinctive of its marvelous mar-velous scenery and at the same time identifying it positively with Utah. It is this general opinion of visitors which led yesterday to the Utah Stat Automobile association offering a trip with all expenses paid to tho Individual Indi-vidual who submits the most appropriate appro-priate title. In submitting suggestions, two envelopes en-velopes and a piece of paper will be needed. The contestants will placo name and address on the slip and seal that within on,e of the envelopes.- On the outside of tbis envelope will bo written the suggested title. The whole will then be enclosd In the second envolopes and mailed to the Utah State Automobile association, Commercial club. Salt Lake. By following these directions the Identity of all contestants will bo withheld with-held from the judges until title selection selec-tion has been made. The placing of anv marks other than above described will eliminate any entry. Each person can make as many suggestions as desired; de-sired; but each will bo made separately. separ-ately. The contest closes at C o'clock in tho evening of July 5. Results will bo announced on July C. Accommodations for tho winner will be provided on the Boy Scout caravan to tho southern Utah wonderland, which leaves Salt Lake for a nine-day tour July 10. oo |
