Show NONAGENARIAN GIVEN HONORS Former Ogdenite Feted at Rockland Ida., on Ninetieth Birthday IIOCKLAND, Ida., June 2 0. The ninetieth birthday of Matthew Phelps Flfleld was celebrated Friday of last week and fifty friends of the anod man, from all parts of Utah and Idaho, responded to the invitation of Edward Fifieid, 50-yoar-old son of the pioneer. Mr. Fifieid Is bolievcd to be Ihe oldest old-est resident in Power county. He arrived ar-rived in Salt Lake in 184S. His father-was father-was a member of the Mormon BaJ-talion, BaJ-talion, and his grandfather fought in the revolutionary war. A half brother served with the Union forces during tho civil war, while Matthew himself participated in many skirmishes with Die Indians during his ploncor day. Mr. Flflold had a son, ten grandsohB and one great grandson in tho world's war. When 19 years old. Mr. Fifieid crossed the plains from Illinois nj Utah and continued to California, where for two years hr engaged in 'the stock business. He then returned I to Ogdon whore he married Mi-sj a:-mlra a:-mlra Gibson. Mrs. Fifieid died when j her husband was 60 years of ago. I Later he married Mrs. Hoops.
