Show BEET SUGAR " PROSPECTS Miner M. Justin, field agent of the Qnited State? department of agriculture, agricul-ture, has made an estimate of tho Utah sugar beet crop of last year. In 1918 there were l.OOS.ino tons of beets grown, he stated, on 82 717 acre? of land. The beets were valued at 10 a ton making T'tah's beet crop worth approximately $10 OOO.OflO Mr Justin has forwarded' these statistics to Washington Oswald Wilson, president of the sugar beet development board of the United States, incorporated, arrived in Ogden yesterday from Salt Lake City, and said that there were prospects of a heavy acreage thl6 year in Utah. He pointed out that there aro at present fifteen sugar lactories in rtah, having a total cutting capantv of 11.420 tons daily and there will be two new plant erected this year. |
