When the reptile sheds Its outer skin the eye scales come off with the rest of the transparent envelope out of which the snake slips. This glassy eye scale Is so tough that It Tffec-tually Tffec-tually protects the truo eye from th twigs, sharp grass and other obstructions obstruc-tions which the snake encounters In Its travels, yet It Is transparent enough to allow Ihe most perfect vision.
