Show PARIS SEEKING OWIC OSES PABIS, Sept. 10. (Correspondence! of the Associated Press ) Will Paris become the Olympic city of the future' Will the Olympic games be held in Paria every four years instead of tak-' ing place in various cities of Europe! and America? Such is the question1 that is being discussed by tho Parisian ! press and the suggestion that is be-I ing advanced by the L'nion of Sporting Federations in France. The question of the attribution of the 1921 Olympic games should have been settled in Antwerp but ow ing to I the large number of cities claiming1 the honor, it was decided to delay the solution of tho problem until the Lausanne Lau-sanne congress in June. 1&21. A pres.; campaign b all the Paris' sporting paper and in which staid political po-litical papers lik the Echo do Paris' and the Avenit have joined, is being waged to prove that the moving about of the Olympic games from city to city and from country lo country every ev-ery four years is all wrong. One city should be chosen to replace Athens they say. "What city is belter quali I tied than Paris," asks the Avenir. j If the present system of alloting the Olympic games to cities and not lo countries is maintained every capital capi-tal of every state In the union of the United States has a right to have its Olympic games as well as Antwerp, the newspapehs argue. "Make of Paris the 'Olympic City' where every four years in a gigantic Stadium, magnificent and permanent, jthletes from all parts of the world would compote. It would then be pos sible to give to the games, tho character, charac-ter, the beauty, the splendor which iih deserve." Such is the plea that will be sent by the Union of Sporting Federations of France, to Baron del Couberlin when the Oljmpic congress i meets at Lausanne. |
