At the Institutes, held by both thej county and city schools, evidence of enthusiasm and pep' were displayed.) Indicating that teachers intend mak-f ing this year a record one In thej s.chool history of the county One of tho most recent Innovations' to bo adopted in th" county schools was a suggestion of Superintendent B, A Fowler, which was incorporated, as a portion of the school calendar for. the 152c-21 season by the county board of educutlon Superintendent Fowler advocated the earlier opening of the county! schools with a two-week period during dur-ing the harvest season, during which1 students of county schools., from the fifth to the ninth grades, would be released to assist in the work. In ac-i cordance with the decision of thel county school board, the county schools will probably be discontinued; from October 15 to 30 Civic, or community work, will bo accredltod to students who work during dur-ing this period. Teachers will assist; by assigning the students to the various vari-ous harvesting jobs und will work with them.
