Show BRIGHAM POLICE KILL FLEEING BURGLAR WHO COMES FOR LOOT; OTHER ESCAPES IN HIGH POWERED AUTOMOBILE Shot to death when he refused to stop, an unidentified burglar lies in the morgue at Brigham City while authorities au-thorities In several counties of Utah are endeavoring to arrest his partner or partners, who arc thought to have escaped in a high powered automobile. The dead burglar is believed lo have been a member of the gang which has boon robbing homes and business houses in towns and cities between here and the Idaho border. A few days ago the authorities at Brigham City found a cache of loot in a chicken coop nt Brigham City. The sheriff assigned special guards to watch the loot and arrest any who came to claim the articles. About 2 o'clock this morning, the guards say two persons approached and sought to make away with a suitcase suit-case containing stolen goods. They wore told to halt. Both broke and ran. Tho gunrds fired. One fell dead and the other escaped A few minutes later residents on the road south of Brigham declared they heard a large automobile speeding in the direction of Ogden. Although the dead burglar has not been Identified, several persons in Brigham City have told the authorities authori-ties they have seen the follow in Brigham Brig-ham quite often recently. Robert Burk, captain of detectives, and R. H. Wootton, deputy sheriff, went to Brigham this morning to obtain ob-tain finger prints of the dead burglar In the belief that the prints might be a clue in the solution of robberies that I have taken place in Ogden. |
