Show CHICAGO GRAIN v j CHICAGO, Jan. 0. Selling on the part of seasonal traders who were endeavoring en-deavoring to anticipate a break In prices not unusual at this time of the year had a bearish effect today on the corn market. At first values showed an upward tendency owing to continued contin-ued scantiness of receipts and to higher high-er quotations on hogs. Bears, how-over, how-over, WGre soon in control, and attention atten-tion lo the calendar became general. Opening prices, which ranged from c off to c advance, with May $1.36Vi to 1.36 and July $1.34 to 1.34, wero followed by a decline all around to well below yesterday's finish. Oats weakened with corn. Speculators Specu-lators led the selling. After opening unchanged to Vic higher, including includ-ing May at 84 to 85c, the market underwent un-derwent a moderate setback. Provisions were lifted by the strength of (he hog market. Owing to grain weakness, however, the advance was not well maintained. CASH SALES. CHICAGO, Jan. 9.
