Now that the state department of education has adopted the modern health crusade and made it a part of the school curriculum, it might be a splendid thing if the people of Utah knew more about the crusade and th( health chores which the children do In the first place the crusade appeals to the imagination of the child and, through this appeal, the boy or girl will I do the little simple things, such as keeping hands, face and neck clean brushing teeth, etc., without objection, where formerly it was a real job to get them done. And they wash thoroughly IIHIWBiPII HI I II Ill now, for ihey know they will get no advancement buttons or pin? unless 1 they are really dean. Here is the list of the chores which I he children are required to do; 1. I washed my hands before each J meal today. ' 2. I washed not only my face but my I ears and neck and I cleaned mv finger-1 nails today. 3. I tried today to keep fingers, pen- cils and everything that might be un 1 I clean out of my mouth and nose. 4. I drank a glass of water before j each meal and before going to bed, and I dranlr no tea, coffee nor otho- injur- J ious drinks today. 5. I brushed my teeih thopughly io j the morning and in the evening today, j 6. I took ten or more deep breaths of fresh air todaj. i 7. I played outdoors or with windows ! I open more than thirty minutes today. 8 I was in bed ten hours or more 1 I last night and kept my windows open. 1 9 I tried today to sit up and stand 1 up straight, to eat slowly and to atfpnd ; to toilet and each need of my body a1 its regular time. 10. I tried today to keep neat and 1 i hew rful constantly and to be helpful J to others. j 11. I took a full bath on each day of the week that is checked X. Total number Af chores done each day I How many of those who read this j I live up to these chores. For the child j i they are going to be so taught In the j schools that Instead of being chores j they will be habits. For the older peo- I pie who do not practice them it would I be a great help to make them a part of j the daily life.
