Sept 17 John Fltz-patnek, Fltz-patnek, chairman of the national committee com-mittee for ornanlzlnej Iron and steel workers, work-ers, who arrived here today from Cleveland, Cleve-land, told newspapermen that unless a , last minute telegram was received from Elbert S Gary, chanman of the boarj of dlrvtors of the United States Steel corporation, the strike of iron and st-?l workers would go into effect September 22nd. The national committee to organizr ing iron and steel workers went into session here shortly before noon today to-day to take definite action on the matter mat-ter of postponing the strike of iron and steel workers called for Sept. 22. Pltzpatrlck said the men were fully erganized and prepared to walk out next Monday. The meeting of the national committee com-mittee today was called primarily to make preparations for the proposed ' strike TOLEDO, O., Sept. 17 A definite decision as to whether the proposed nation-Wide strike of steel workers will become effective September 22 or I be deferred until after the industrial I conference in Washington, October 6. will be reached here today by the American Fueration of Labor national .committee for organizing iron and steel workers. NEW YORK, SepL 17. E. H. Gary. Chairman of the board of the United Slates Steel corporation, declined today to-day lo comment on the announcement I of John Pitzpatrick that only a last .minute telegram from him would aert a strike ol steel ami iron workers. It was learned, however, that Mr. Gary has written a letter to the heads of the Bteel corporation's subsidiaries in connection with the threatened Btrike and it was Intimated this might be made public late today oi tomorrow.
