Show r : ; Many Affairs Are Given For Bride-Elect by Many Friends v J On Friday evening, June 6. Miss Calvert Cal-vert was the honored guest at a dinner din-ner party given by Miss A. Seaman and Mrs. Grossman at the former's home on Twentieth street, when covers cov-ers were laid for eight guests, The table was decorated with June roses rnd a delicious menu was served. Last Monday afternoon from 2 until I 5 o'clock, Miss Alta Calveri. a member i of the social set of this city, whose engagement en-gagement to Mr. Mark Thackeray of Croydon, Utah, was recently announc ed and whose wedding occurred on Thursday of this week in the Salt Lake temple, was hostess to a number of her friends at a trousseau tea On this occasion the Calvert home on Adams avenue was bright with roses in red and pink hues arranged in bowls and baskets throughout the rooms. Tho guests spent a pleasant timo and enjoyed en-joyed a luncheon served by the Misses Clara Boyle, Vivian Peterson. Mrs. L. R. Jackson, Mrs. James A. Luke of Salt Lake City and Mrs. James A. Calvert. Cal-vert. Mi33 Calvert, now Mrs. Thackeray, had displayed for the pleasure of her guests some of the choicest of her trousseau, which Is Indeed a wonderful one. The most exquisite pieces were of course, included in hor wedding outfit, out-fit, the gown being of wonderfully ; rich satin and entirely embroidered, the fine work being done by Filipino women. Ever so many pieces in Miss Calvert's trousseau were the fine ait 3f Filipino women whose embroider ing is knorwn the world over as the choicest. Among the articles, which ire a delight to the bride, were a number of exquisite bureau scarfs and table centerpieces which had been sent from the Phillppln- - Saturday afternoon last, Mrs. John C. Da is was hostess to about thirty-live thirty-live guests at a kitchen shower given lor Miss Calvert. There Tere sonn' very useful articles presented to the bride-elect and the afternoon wa.s pleasantly spent. The hostess was as elated b Miss Gallagher, Miaa Llsi-Shaw, Llsi-Shaw, Miss Lavon Hees and Miss Kath-erlne Kath-erlne Fisher. The home was decora1-ed decora1-ed with summer flowers. Sunday Mrs. Earl Higgenbotbaro was hostess at a 1 o'clock luncheon in compliment to Miss Calvert and on this occasion there were eight guests present. Mrs. Higgenbotham served a very nicely prepared luncheon. A miscellaneous shower was number! num-ber! ! among the delightful events given for the bride-to be and Mrs Charles A. Calvert was hostess to twenty -four friends of Miss Calvert. Following a pleasant evening when te honor guest was presented with some very nice gifts, Mrs. Calvert served i efreshments. On Monday, June 2, Dr. and Mr?. James R. Calvert were host and hostess host-ess at a dinner party given for the bride-to-be and Mr. Thackeray. Seven guests were seatrd at the table which l ad ler-n il-c.i; at-i vh red roses. A nicely prepared menu was perfectly served. The color scheme of red and white was carried out to a nicety in the courses served. |
