Show GOOD ROADS PROMOTERS TO MEET AT YELLOWSTONE FOR CONVENTION AUGUST 1 0 AND 1 1 Considerable interest is being taken 'locally in tbe convention of good roads promoters that, is to meet at Yellowstone Yellow-stone park on August 10 and 11 to discuss the proposal to construe! a series of highways thai will link up ihe various national parks, or at least to improve roads already in existence O. J Stilwell, secretary' of the Ogden Publicity bureau, will be a delegate from that organization, and it is probable prob-able that other representatives will co from here as delegates from other organizations. or-ganizations. Mr. Stilwell suggests that any one jwho Intends to visit the park about that time and is interested In ihe 'movement for good ronds should have J their organizations appoint them 's delegates, as it is desired to have ai good representation from this section. It Is probable that delegates will be f Bent i o represent the Rotary Hub. t he Merchants of Ogden and other organizations organi-zations that are taking a keen interest I in the movemfpt. The following letter from Ihe de partment of the interior at Washington, Washing-ton, D C. has been received by 'he ogden Publicity bureau relative to the convention : "President Chamber of Commerce, Ogden, Og-den, Utah. "Dear Sir: The national park service serv-ice of the interior department is deep-, 1 interested in the conference that ; has been called b the Associated Commercial club presidents of Montana Mon-tana for the discussion of road improvement im-provement problems of the west, and more particularly for the development of plans for the promotion of a well established highway connecting the great national parks of the country. "A glance at a map will show you that the biggest and finest parks may ! be connected by a system of highways 1 almost forming a circle. This is why i this group of national playgrounds has been called "The Incomparable Cir-1 cle." Your problem is to designate and plan the improvement of this great highway system. It is the function func-tion of tbe national park service to direct di-rect the attention of tbe people of thel United States to this means of seeing and enjoying their vast recreation areas, Our interests, therefore, are j mutual, and the conference at Mam-moth Mam-moth Hot Springs in Yellowstone na-l tlonal park, on August 10 and 11, will! give us the opportunity to organize and broadly formulate our work for the future continued upbuilding of the tourist business of the west, and wilh it the commercial and agricultural ad-1 vancement of this land of infinite resources. re-sources. "Reports from all of the national parks show that they have come into j their own this year ; each and every j member of the system is now enjoying enjoy-ing a patronage from 10 to 150 per j cenl in excess of any previous year, j Now is the time to establish the park-to-park highway, and thus offset in large measure the lure of Europe.
