Utah. 'Friends The Merchants of Ogden as an association of business men is I deeply concerned in the welfare and 'morals of the young people of the community and bogs leave to bring (to you as fathers and mothers and officers of-ficers of the law, who aro commissioned commis-sioned with the duty and responsibility of protecting the public morals, a solemn sol-emn warning against the practice and habn of many of the boys and girls of the city of wandering about the streets until late at night, unatended I by chaperons, and frequenting restau-j restau-j rants and other public places. "The writer Is able to say that on almost any night at an hour until midnight and frequently later, pairs and groups of young boys and girls, sometimes many of them barely In their 'teens, may be seen unaccompanied unaccompan-ied by parents or guardians aimlessly drifting about the streets of this city "It is ihe first duty of tho parents of these children to instruct ihem as to the evil which will result from habits of this character and to restrain re-strain them from such conduct It is the duty of the juvenile court, and of the police officers of the city to see that Juvenile delinquency is not fos-tered fos-tered and produced In this manner. ' If this condition is not corrected many of these young boys and girls will drift into habits of life that will eventually lead Iheui into poverty, degradation and criiu-. "We, therefore, again urge all fathers fa-thers and mothers to see that tbeir children are not among those who are wandering about the streets at night and we strongly urge the judge of the juvenile court and the probation of-ticers of-ticers and the chief of poliee and police officers of this city to see to it that the laws relating to Juvenile delinquency, delin-quency, which fully covers this situation, situa-tion, be rigidly enforced, and we invite in-vite the attention ot the press of the city to this situation and the menace to the future welfare of he city whuh it Involves, and ask that warning and notice be given to the public so that it will come to the attention of all the citizens of Ogden.
