He had HI .not found Welsh's revolver when be searched the night clerk and the latter fired four shots at the man as ho was II passing under the viaduct, none of which took eff t . Officers, who were not far awa ami heard the shots, were soon on tin H: scene, but after a thorough search of ihe neighborhood no trace of the robber rob-ber had been fouud. The front door key of the houso was also ! missing According to Mrs. Pingree, ;he thieves must have entered the residence resi-dence after 3 o'clock this morning, because be-cause she was awake until that hour and did not hear any nol9c. She stated ihat Mr Pingree awakened early this morning by a noise, riled "Who's There'" and receiving no response he concluded that everything was all right and went back to sleep.
