Show FIVE HAVE 'CLOSE CALL FROM DEATH SALT LAKE, SopL 27 Five persons had a narrow escape from fatal injury in-jury late yesterday aftornoon when an automobile said to have been driven by Mrs. It. M. Campbell of Walker lane, Murray, collided with a telephone post a short distance from her home. In the machine with Mrs. Campbell were her mother, Mrs. Mary A. Chees-man Chees-man of the same address, and her throe children, Beatrice, aged 10; Virginia, Vir-ginia, 8, and Janet, 12. Mrs. Chees-man Chees-man and Janet are ,nt the Holy Cross! hospital, the former suffering from numerous severe bruises and lacerations lacera-tions about the head and body, and the latter from a fracture of the left leg, received when she was thrown from tho car to the street. Virginia sustained a broken nose when thrown against tho back of the front seat. Tho accident occurred, according to witnesses, when tho Campbell machine ma-chine turned too far to one side of tho street, to permit the passage of an automobile said to have boon driven by HI chard Anderson of Murray. Janot was thrown from the car. while Mrs. Cheesman and the two remaining children chil-dren were thrown violently from their seats. The steering wheol held Mrs. Campbell in her seat, and aside from minor bruises and contusions she is said to have been unhurt. The injured in-jured were taken to Holy Cross hospital hos-pital by G. It. Walker of Murray, where they were attended by Dr. A. J. Hosmcr, following which all but Mrs. Cheesman and Janet were sent to their homes. The car was badly damaged by the crash. |
