Show EXEMPTION BOARD IS REQUESTED IT j TO ENLIST i The threatened impairment of tho i efficiency of local boards through the Increasingly large registration of I board members Is commented on, with I instructions, in the following bulletin j Issued by Provost Marshal General . Crowder: "The increasingly large number of registrations of members of local boards threatens a serious impairment of the efficiency and expeditlpus classification of the new registrants. Hereafter no registrations may be accepted ac-cepted until after reference to this of-' ficc with complete statement of facts , and personal recommendation of the ' governor. Under Section 6 of the S. , S. R. board members having been ap- j pointed by the president are compelled to render service as such members un- til relieved therefrom by the president. (See Sec. 33. S. S. R.) Concerning the increasingly large number of retirements of medical members from local boards on account , of acceptance of commissions in medi- j cal corps of army, thereby rendering I them ineligible to continue as board 1 members, this office 'recently had agreement with surgeon general of the army which was announced to yen by general letter of August 23. Similar agreements have been reached with surgeon general of navy and surgeon general of public health service but no definite instructions have yet been issued by them such as issued by sur-geon sur-geon general as recited in our letter August 23. Such instructions will no doubt come forward within a few days and immediate announcement of same will be made to you." |
