Show MEATLESS JPJO HEIRESS DAYS To clear up a widespread misunderstanding misunder-standing of the new conservation program, pro-gram, the United States food administration adminis-tration for Utah has issued the following fol-lowing regarding meatless, wheatless and porkless days, and also has carefully care-fully defined what should and should not bo eaten on those days: Monday Wheatless day, meaning that no crackers, pastries, macaroni, breakfast foods or cereals containing white flour should be used. (Flour can be used for thickening gravy or as a binder In cornbread or other cereal, broads.) Tuesday Meatless day, meaning that no hog or cattle products, should be used. Sheep products can be eaten on this day up to and Including April 15. Fish, poultry and eggs arc not under the ban. Wednesday Wheatless day (same an Monday). Saturday Porkless day, meaning that no bacon, pork, ham, lard, pork products, either fresh or preserved, should bo eaten. Ono meaUess meal daily Is urged. Meat restricted daily from 4 a. m.,to 11 a, m. General instructions On days other than meatless days, use lamb and mutton in prefcrenco to beef or pork. Victory bread is urged at all times. Victory bread Is from 5 to 20 per cent of other cereals mixed with white flour. Graham orw hole wheat bread is Victory bread. |
