Show Provisions for Exemptions Exemp-tions Not to Upset War Industry. WASHINGTON, Aug. 6 Broader provisions for exemptions have been written into the new manpower bill, now before congress, so that the nation's na-tion's war industry fabric may not be upset by unduly large withdrawals of men over 32 years of age for military service. Provost Marshal General Crowder, appearing today before the senate military mil-itary committee, explained that he had deemed it advisable to make it possible pos-sible to give a more liberal interpretation interpre-tation of the law and prevent tho induction in-duction into tho army of many men performing essential work at home and yet not actually in Industrial occupations. |
