Show .MEXICO EXTEWDS POH 01 ALL EXPORT DUTIES MEXICO CITY. Wednesday. Dec. 25 Extraordinary powers in financial matters have been extended to President Pres-ident Carranza by the chamber oi deputies. Under the new authority President Carranza is expected soon to issue decrees de-crees removing until June 30, 1919, import duties on foodstuffs, articles of primary necessity to the country and on agricultural implements and irrigation machinery. It is expected that duties on automobiles will be removed re-moved for a period of three months. Constitutional reforms have beon proposed by which the force of several sections of the constitution will be mitigated. These refer principally to sections governing the power of state legislatures to fix the maximum number num-ber of clergy participating in religious relig-ious rites and require that all members mem-bers of the clergy be native born Mexicans. Clauses dealing with the nationalization of church property would be brought into agreement by a proposed amendment. |
