Show SMALL RIOT IS CAUSED BY NEGROES NEW YORK, Dec. 25 A score of negro soldiers from Camp Upton, who became embroiled In a fight tonight with a Brooklyn saloon keeper who refused to serve them liquor, were opposed op-posed by more than 150 policemen and members of the provost guard, but took possession of virtually all the liquor li-quor in the saloon before twenty arrests ar-rests were made. Then a crowd of nearly 2,000 negro civilians came to tho rescue of the prisoners and the police po-lice had difficulty in hastening away the, arrested men in patrol wagons and trucks. Bricks and stones began to fly through tho air and reserves from several stations had to be called out to ho!d the crowd in chock. |
