Show W IS RECEIVED FOR If RED CROSS MITTI Seven hundred pounds of warm, fleecy, grey, yarn was received this morning by the local Red Cross chapter chap-ter for tho knitting neodles of patriotic Ogden women who will lend their aid to tho government by making warm things for the boys at the front and in cantonments. The yarn will be distributed, dis-tributed, starting Monday of next week to all women who desire to knit for the Red Cross. They may get a supply sup-ply by calling at tho Red Cross chapter's chap-ter's headquarters in the First National Nation-al bank building, between the hours of 10 and 12 a. m. and 3 and 5 p. m. Tho yarn will be Issued free, but thoso taking it must promise to return knitted knit-ted articles which have been mado from it. Instruction books will bo given giv-en everyone who wishes them so that the articles mado may be made to specifications. It Is proposed to make 700 sets of knitted apparel by December 1. This allotment has been assigned to tho Ogden Og-den chapter of the Red Cro3s and the ladles who are members of the organization organ-ization have issued a patriotic call to all of their slstors, urging them to help tho chapter fill the order. The sets will consist of six plooea, a muffler, sweater one pair of socks and one pair of wristlets. These are calculated to keep tho follows In tho trenches and at the cantonments warm and comfortable comfort-able In the face of the winters frost. Moro yarn will be received within a few days by the Red Cross chapter and work will tbon bo underta.kon on an extensive scalo. It is urgent that knitting needles be busy all over the city and county end all women who can find a moment during the day are expected to use that time for taking a few more stitches on the knitted articles. ar-ticles. Several organizations of women in the city will undertake the making of separate articles as a whole, some making sweaters,, some making mufflers, muf-flers, others socks and so on, as it is expected the work will be expedited by such a system. Arrangements Arrange-ments had been made for meetings to be addressed by Mrs. Johnston and she was accorded a warm reception. Mrs. JohnBton met yesterday with ladles of the Methodist church Aid society so-ciety and missionary societies of all Evangelical churches. Later in tho afternoon she met with the women of the St. Joseph's parish. On Saturday ,sho will hold meetings with the Historical His-torical society and Drama club In the University club rooms. These meetings meet-ings will have reached every organization organiza-tion of women and all women not belonging be-longing to organizations by the time they are finished and it is thought that the resultant campaign of knitting and war work will be successfully pursued pur-sued In the county. nn |
