Show FIRST MISSHMIY FROM THE WEST OHI WARD About four years ago a new ecclesiastical eccles-iastical -ward -was . organized by the Mormon church on the heights west of the viaduct. Although West Ogden Og-den has been a Uttlo village for many years, n portion of its area being in Ogden City and a part in Weber county coun-ty outside tho city limits, so far as its peoples, its business and. other interests in-terests are concerned it is all one. The Mormon church recognized the rapid growth of this part of Ogden City and the needs of its members of the West Ogden ward and commenced com-menced tho construction of a modern church building. The building is now about three-fourths completed, all entertainments and religious meet, 'ings having been hold in the completed com-pleted portion of the structure for the past three years. Bishop Fred W. Walker has presided over the des- mwco ui mtj waru since us inception, and but recently resigned, on account of being compelled to accept a position posi-tion in another field. He had as coworkers co-workers Thomas Ughtfoot and Chas. Dana. After Bishop Walker resigned the ward was reorganized and Chas. Dana was chosen to preside over the ward as binhop. The struggle to complete com-plete the church is proving a most trying one, because of the fact that tho majority of the members in the ward are working people, and the extremely ex-tremely high cost of life's necessities has precluded many from 'donating save in very small amounts. But notwithstanding the many perplexities, perplexi-ties, it has been determined to send forth into the world a missionary, and this honor has fallen to the lot of Thomas Lightfoot's daughter, Iz-zio: Iz-zio: Sister Lizzie Lightfoot has always al-ways been an earnest and willing worker for tho uplift and betterment of religious conditions in West Og- ' den, and it is a foregone conclusion that Sister Lightfoot will givo an excellent ex-cellent account of herself in the missionary mis-sionary field. To assist her somewhat some-what to surmount the many trials and difficulties confronting a missionary the ward is to give an entertainment and dancing party tomorrow evening at the, West Ogden church. All arc Invited to participate and extend a fitting farewell to West Ogden'-s first missionary worker |
