Show Fletcher Arrives From Mexico. With Lansing Arranged, and Immediate Conference GERMAN ACTIVITIES Believed Improbable Country Will Enter War as Ally on Either Side. WASHINGTON, July 6. Enough importance im-portance was attached to tho mission of Henry P. Fletcher, ambassador to Mexico, to arrange for a conference today with Secretary Lansing on board j the train which, is carrying the secre-, tary to Henderson Harbor, N. Y., for) a three weeks' vacation. State de- partment officials have professed ignorance ig-norance as to the nature of the mission mis-sion of Ambassador Fletcher. Ho requested re-quested permission to come to Wash-' ington three weeks ago and left as soon as authorized. By some officials it was assumed the ambassador wished to explain to the secretary the extent to which German Ger-man activities have boon carried on in Mexico. Reports that Mexico would enter the war as an ally of the entente powers is not regarded by most officials offi-cials hero as probable. They also believe be-lieve it improbable that Mexico will become active in her support of Germany. |
