At a joint meeting last night of the executive t committee of the National Labor party r and the parliamentary committee of the Trades Union congress, the atti tude of Arthur Henderson, secretary of the Labor party, who resigned Saturday Sat-urday as a member of the British war cabinet, with regard to the Socialist . 1 conference in Stockholm, was Indorsed. In-dorsed. The meeting appointed delegates, dele-gates, Including Mr. Henderson, to the 1 Stockholm conference and resolved to ask the government to withdraw its order prohibiting the issuance of passports pass-ports to Stockholm delegates. , The meeting of the executive com- ) mittee of the Labor party and the parliamentary committee was held in the house of commons. George Nicoll Barnes, who succeeded Mr, Henderson in the war cabinet, and all the Labor members of the cabinet attended. Mr. Henderson, James Ramsay MacDouald and Phillip Snowdcn and most of the Labor members of parliament also were present-No present-No communication was issued to the press, but it Is understood no change in the situation resulted and the position of the Labor members of the government was not discussed, although al-though it Is known that a pacifist section, sec-tion, headed by Mr. MacDonald, is trying try-ing to bring pressure to force the Labor ministers to resign. Apparently, Apparent-ly, however, nothing will be decided pending the adjourned meeting of the National Labor conference next Tuesday. |
